Tyler Featherston / Featherston Media

Small Clients, Big Support

Most 16-year-olds are thinking about Homecoming, getting their drivers license and that math test on the horizon. But Tyler Featherston wasn’t most sixteen-year-olds. Featherston had just celebrated his sweet sixteen when he started Featherston Media, a company that provides quality IT support and AVL (Audio Visual Lighting) services to small businesses and non-profits. The company made a name for itself, despite grappling with all the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur.

But it’s not his personal accomplishments that make him proud–it’s the accomplishments of his clients and his employees. That devotion to workplace culture makes Featherston Media–and Tyler Featherston himself—stand out from their competition.

“I am most proud of the environment and culture we have created in our relentless pursuit of excellent customer service,” Featherston says. “We take care of our employees and our employees take care of our customers.”

“We take care of our employees and our employees take care of our customers.”

The company started as a necessity. Featherston saw this glaring hole in the market, and knew he had to fill it. Small businesses and non-profits had–and have–too much on their plates to worry about the minutiae and intricate details that come with IT support and AVL services. That’s where Tyler comes in.

“When we are recruiting, we hire the person based on their customer aptitude, and not their qualifications,” Featherston says. After all, customer aptitude is what sets Featherston Media apart from their competition.

“Some of my favorite satisfaction stories are hearing the countless clients that come to us and say how much better their support is now that they have made the switch,” says Featherston. “We see a trend of competitors in our field that do not keep the customer experience first.”

His first client was The Avenue Church in Waxahachie–and they’re still with Featherston Media. “To this day they are still one of our best clients,” Featherston says. But he’s not playing favorites. Featherston and his associates bring that “relentless pursuit” of perfection to the table every time they bring in a new client. That perfection starts with the hiring process–a process to which Featherston Media has a unique approach.

That’s a trend that Tyler Featherston knows he’ll never see with his top-tier team. The company is growing, with a new, campus-like facility on the horizon, and upcoming services that’ll teach their clients how to use the tech they provide. But come what may, Featherston Media will retain that peerless persistence to perfection that has gotten it so far since its humble start as a teenager’s big dream. “People don’t work with us because we are the less expensive option,” Featherston says. “They work with us because they know that, in the end, we will do what we say we are going to do and they are going to be very pleased with the end result.”
